Lee Hom " Music Man" Live In Malaysia - 2 May 2009

Move over Indiana Jones, Batman, Superman, Incredible Hulk, Bruce Lee, Lara, Ironman and Spiderman, because we have the latest superhero in town ….. THE MUSIC MAN with his weapon, a dragon-shaped electric guitar named Bahamut and he is here to save the world through his music.

Wang Lee Hom sang, bbox, rap, played his Bahamut, the grand piano, drums and violin and even did a dance routine in front of 25,000 odd fans who sang along with him. He showed his vocal prowess immaculately and versatility in handling different musical genres such as mandopop, rock, jazz, R&B and also traditional Chinese music. Everything blended in perfectly from the band, the huge digital screens, back up dancers and lightings.

Danell Lee (Malaysian Idol Season II winner) opened the show with his energetic rendition of “Yin Wei You Ai” in which he did a few hip hop moves. Karen Kay (Project Superstar Season III winner) was the second guest performer. She did a medley of two songs “Wo Lian Ai Ler “and “Ka Tong Ren”, dancing to cute moves.

Finally the moment everyone was waiting for came and the crowd was screaming for him. Lee Hom’s Bahamut made a grand entrance, coming down from the top and landed on the floor. Then it made its way back up again. Then the Music Man came down in something that looked like a small flying saucer. After singing the third song, he changed his guitar to the Bahamut and stunned the crowd. After singing the fifth number, Lee Hom came down stage and the crowd went frenzy and everyone rushed to the front.

He mesmerized the crowd while playing on the grand piano, singing a few songs which included “Ni Bu Zhai” and “Wei Yi’. Nearing the end of the concert, Lee Hom did a disappearing act. He went into a box on the stage and the next second he appeared somewhere in the middle of the stadium. The crowd started to mob him but luckily, the organizers have already stationed security personnel on both sides of the walkway to escort him back on stage.

Lee Hom sang a total of 28 songs with 3 songs during encore. His final number for the night was Kiss Goodbye which is aptly for the closing. Lee Hom acknowledged his fans from different countries by speaking in their respective languages. Fans from Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, China, Singapore, Australia and last but not least Malaysia and the whole stadium roared. I am very sure that his fans do not want to kiss him goodbye ….

Ice Kacang Puppy Love @ 22 April 2009

Lina asked me if I wanted to be a part of the supporting cast for this movie written, directed and acted by our very own Ah Niu ( his real name is Tan Kheng Seong). Initially I told her no but then after reading the papers about this movie and the strings of well known names who is going to be in it, I called her immediately and she managed to put us in, all 4 of us including her and our daughters (we made a pact to bring our daughters along). This movie has roped in our local artistes who have made it big in Taiwan like Lee Sin Jie, Nicholas Teo, Penny Tai. Guang Liang, Victor Wong, Gary Chaw and Fish Leong.

Made under Ah Niu’s newly set up company – Very Good Pictures – Ice Kacang Puppy Love will be the first film to bring together such an illustrious cast of Malaysia’s best known Taiwan-based artistes. The movie is based on his own childhood experiences while growing up in Penang, and Ah Niu plays a secondary schoolboy who is secretly in love with a school mate, played by Lee Sin Je. Victor Wong, Gary Chaw and Fish Leong play the pair’s childhood friends and they all go through the ups and downs of life and of course, the puppy love that goes along with it.

22 April 2009 was the first day they started filming for this movie and Lee Sin Je, Penny Tai & Nicholas Teo were on set. We were the pedestrians who would be walking around the streets of Bukit Bintang/ Lot 10 area. There was a scene crossing the road from Sg Wang to Lot 10 and vice versa. We had to follow the timing from the traffic lights to go and stop, which was quite dangerous in a way but everything went well. I took baby with me for the experience and so she had to skip school for the day.

All in all it was a fun experience, meeting lots of other people doing the same thing as us and also meeting the stars face to face. The only thing was the sun and the heat on that day .... was really HOT! but still a good experience. Thanks Lina !!!
