My Boy, Kevin

Hello I'm back, again, haha ... I really hope to keep on posting in this blog and not get lazy. Ok I will try!

Just want to shout out to my boy, Kevin Pek.

He passed his driving test yesterday. I'm so proud of him. He was really nervous the night before but I told him to be confident of himself that he can do it and he did it! Now he can zip around in a four wheel vehicle.

His SPM trials will be starting soon and really hope he will do his best and make us all proud. But he has improved a lot and I see him doing his home work / revision every night.

Go Kevin Go !!!

Looking forward to our trip to Bangkok end of the month. Will try to blog about it :)

I never knew Hua Hin has so much to offer but we only have one night there but anyway, if it is that good, we shall be back with the whole family .... sawadee ka !!!

Pao Xiang Bah Kut Teh

Literally it means "String Tied" bah kut teh, the pork is tied with cotton strings to retain its shape and texture as well as to lock in the exquisite flavour during the stewing process. Well I did not see any strings on my "tua kut" (big bone). The branch we went to in Sri Petaling seems to be short handed as we were not served after sitting down for about 5 mins or more and we had to call them to take our order a few times!

Next our tea did not come, the tea bag came but not the teapot and cups! The rice came first and then the bowls of BKT and last but not least the teapot and mini cups came. The BKT was not hot enough but the taste is ok, much better than some BKT shops in KL but it will loose hands down to those from Klang! But one thing, the rice was nice, fragrant and fluffy and no strings on our "tua kut", wonder if can get refund .....

Wahab Cendol - Best cendol in town ??

This restaurant shifted from their old place at Taman Sri Rampai. Had a bad experience with them once. A whole bunch of us went there after our dinner, ordered the cendol but our order never came !!!

After a shopping trip to Aeon in Setiawangsa, we stopped by at their new restaurant at Jalan Rampai Niaga 5 for cendol. It was packed but now they are using the numbering system like the famous tea shops so not bad, they have improved !! After ordering and payment, you will have a number on your receipt and wait for your number. Did not wait too long for the cendol to come ....

But the cendol was nothing to shout about ... the shaved ice was not fine enough, the red bean was small. Normal cendol is RM 2.50 a bowl, red bean add RM 0.30.

Verdict - Definitely not the best in town !

Village Sang Nyuk Noodles

Hubby bought some vouchers from Living Social website for this restaurant in Pandan Jaya.  Seems this noodle is an iconic food of Sabah that comes with their special chilly sauce as well. "Sang Nyuk" literally means "raw pork" but of course we are eating cooked ones! We are no cannibals ....

Overall, very nice experience eating here albeit it's a non air-con place. The noodles and soup are very tasty (we did not feel thirsty though) and the pork tasted fresh and tender. The lady who served us, I guess she's an Indonesian but can speak a few Chinese words to explain their menu/ dishes. We ordered a variety of noodles like meehoon, yellow noodles and also wantan noodles. Hubby and dad liked the wantan noodles very much, tasty and got "tan seng". The meehoon was thicker than normal and I liked it that way. Btw each vouchers entitled us to 2 bowls of noodles with one side dish like fried wantan, fish ball and fish cake. All the side dishes were good and tasty too, better than some other places that we have eaten before. Oh yeah, comes with free flow of Chinese tea as well. In fact all of us took the soup version and had an extra bowl which we ordered a dry version, also very nice!

But the chilly sauce was a bit too sour for our taste and they only have the red chilly padi .... very hot stuff !

UPSR

I want to wish my little darling Kristin all the very best for the UPSR exams. I have prayed that God will guide her and help her to go through this exam with good results. She is a smart girl but a bit lazy. She's the darling of the family and also just became a young woman few days ago (if you know what I mean).

This is an old picture of her taken during the music school concert where she performed Jay Chou's cowboy song on the keyboard, hence the cowboy costume she is wearing. Adorable .....

It has been a long time

Wow it has been a long time since I updated this blog of mine ... well I've been busy with work and stuff ...

Something happened in my life recently which I never expected that it will happen to me. Life is so unpredictable, like the saying goes "Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you're gonna get" ...

I felt the hurt and I cant help myself from thinking about it ... why did it happen ... did I do anything wrong ...

The bride had tears of joy as she was walking down the aisle and I felt very touched to see that. I wish I could have a church wedding too! I was chatting with Mark and he asked me if I had a church wedding and I said no. Then he said well you can have one to renew your wedding vows ... Can I ... can I ... Mark said he told Frank not just to come to church for occasions only ... I hope he gets the drift !

We adjurned for makan makan after the ceremony ... very good food. They had the famous lala from Lala Cheong and home made pineapple tarts from the bride's mum ... so so very delicious ...

Today is also the day Pinkies are celebrating Daniel's birthday cum farewell party. We have never missed his birthday events and anniversary but this time around, we cannot miss Bernard's church wedding. Anwyay would like to wish a very happy birthday to Daniel and all the best to him in his future endeavours in Taiwan. I hope he still remembers us .... I remember always wanting to wait for him after the live shows during Malaysian Idol days, to take pictures with him, chat with him and sometimes give him a hug or two. In fact, I have come to know so many other chinese and malay artiste, local and international becuase of star chasing Daniel all these years. In a way I have learnt how to appreciate our local singers, they really work very hard to be where they are and they never stop working hard!

Kristin's Dancing Class

Kristin joined this dancing class about 6 months ago and now they will be having their very first concert on 12 July 2008. They have been invited to perform for Kristin' s school fund raising event on 5 July 2008. In fact Kristin is also taking part in this fund raising event, she will be performing a dance number.

She just loves to sing and dance .... I hope that she will go far in the future. I have asked her to choose which one she loves the most, singing or dancing. In fact I put it as which one would you join, OIAM or SYTYCD and she said she dont know ... hehe ... I think maybe both. Or maybe by then it's some other competitions liao ... haha ...

My dad is 71 this year and I decided to throw a surprise birthday party for him. I was enquiring with all the red box on the prices etc and decided on Red Box Plus at The Pavilion. It's got buffet lunch with free flow of soft drinks (plus one hot drink each like capuccino, espresso, coffee or miloe) and they throw in 4 hours of karaoke (11:00 am - 3:00 pm). That sounds like a good deal at RM 27.50 nett person (inclusive of 10% tax). In the end, they gave us another hour ... we sang until 4 pm!!! The bill was share by 3 of us, myself, Calvin & Jason.

The room was awesome ... very spacious for all 24 of us and they gave us 4 wireless mics. But one thing abt the wireless mics ... it runs out of battery quite fast and we had to get the staff to change the mics for us.

Generally the food was okay only but of course you go to Red Box to sing and food should not matter but certain stuff was good like the chocolate cake and certain dishes like the curry chicken was not too bad too! They even got salmon, prawns and crabs .... value for money. The service was not too bad too!

Dad never suspected anything at all ... and I think he was happy just that he is a quiet person who does not talk much or show expression. Actually when we reached there, I called Calvin and he said that some were not there yet so we had to walk a bit before going up and the kids was asking where are we going ??? Then when we entered Red Box, I told my dad that we are going in there for some singing and buffet lunch ... my dad gave me a weird look .... keke ... :)
